San Francisco Flocks to Stern Grove
Each summer since 1938, the Stern Grove Festival Association has provided admission-free performing arts to San Francisco residents. Located in the gorgeous open air amphitheater at Sloat Boulevard and 19th Avenue, the Sigmund Stern Grove offers the best in performing arts. The grove provides opportunity for music and nature lovers to gather together and picnic amidst the trees.
Concerts begin at 2 p.m., but you should arrive early to find seating. Pre-concert explanations and conversation, called “Troc Talks” occur at noon prior to many of the concerts at the Grove’s Trocadero Clubhouse. Children are invited to explore with hands-on activities through KidStage, located in the West Meadow from 12-1 p.m. before the concerts.
If you haven’t been to the San Francisco’s Stern Grove Festival before, there are a few things you should know before going. Check this guide for more details. Upcoming artists feature Jovanotti, Rickie Lee Jones, the San Francisco Ballet, Maceo Parker, and They Might Be Giants.
